As you might have noticed, we have a schedule for small group locations. Tonite we're at Bekah's. For those of you who haven't noticed, Bekah now has a food blog. I point this out both because Bekah and her friends make pretty yummy food and because the maiden recipe on the blog is from yours truly.

Small Group Schedule

Here's the schedule for Small Group hosting for the rest of the year. Fenns, we put you on the occasional 5th Sunday. I wonder if you guys could also do the "fill in" if a family can't host on their Sunday. I'll try to also post this on the blog as well.

1st Sunday - Bekah's House
2nd Sunday - Steve & Mary House
3rd Sunday - Dennis & Barb
4th Sunday - Matt & Libby

I'll to set up the Grooveshark list for our songbook when I get a chance, until then enjoy some Jesus Culture.

"How He Loves Us" is an especially powerful song, but it does have a kind of uncomfortable sermon thingy by Kim towards the end. It was probably pretty cool if you were there. "Holding Nothing Back" is not in the songbook yet, but I do have the music...

Sunday, April 22nd, Laman/Cannon House

Well, since we had the mix-up last week, we'll try it again for this Sunday. See you at Dennis, Barb's, Rachel, Micki and Gabe's. Directions on the sidebar.

Travis is bringing a few burgers to grill. Bring patriotic food (see previous post). We may run small group differently - who knows?

Correction - Small Group NOT at Matthew & Libby's

Matthew and Libby aren't able to host today. If you wish to meet for small group today, please call Travis. Otherwise, we'll take the week off. Travis probably needs the rest...but he also was looking forward to hamburgers!

Small Group on July 4 is at Matt and Libby's House

I'm posting this early so they don't get "beaten to the punch." Bring patriotic things to eat. And no, I'm not sure what would be patriotic. Maybe we could cook out at their house. If so, I promise to keep the meeting time much shorter. -Travis

Why Broad St was closed yesterday afternoon....

28 Rail Cars Derail Near Broad Street
No One Hurt; 1 Car Spills 100 Pounds Of Fertilizer Pellets
posted May 23, 2010

A CSX train passing through Chattanooga jumped off its track around 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the 3200 block of South Broad Street. The train had just passed under the viaduct at Chattanooga Creek and was headed toward Lookout Mountain around a curve when the mishap occurred.

No injuries were reported and there was no indication of any threat to the surrounding public.

CSX Railroad officials on the scene said up to 28 rail cars were off the tracks. Some of the cars tumbled onto their sides down an embankment, while others pushed their way on top of one another.

Battalion Chief Rick Sewell said that several fire companies responded to the scene, along with the haz-mat team, since trains often carry large loads of hazardous materials. In this case, CSX officials said most of the rail cars were empty. However, one car was loaded with ferrous sulfate, which CSX personnel said is used as a fertilizer.

Chief Sewell said the car carrying the fertilizer was damaged in the wreck and about 100 pounds of the pelletized material spilled onto the ground. Concerned that the spilled material could contaminate Chattanooga Creek, which is located nearby, an environmental cleanup company was brought in to clean up the spill. Chief Sewell said the rail car will have to be off-loaded before it can be moved back on the track.

Meantime, CSX personnel were being called in from around the region to deal with the derailment. No word on how long it will take to re-rail the cars and repair the track.

Chattanooga police had the southbound lanes of Broad Street closed for a time, but it was re-opened after it was determined the derailment posed no threat to the public.

CSX and possibly other agencies will be investigating the cause of the derailment.

Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me

This is one of the songs on our new "page three" of the songbook. The song is very good, and this recording is very good. Enjoy! It should come up in a little pop-up listener doohickey.

Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me

The pop-up doohickey will only work once per computer - after that, they only let you hear a 30-second clip (some irritating and probably brilliant marketing thing for downloads), so if you want to hear it again, try this YouTube video. It's a great live recording at some conference. I haven't listened to the entire story that follows so don't lynch me if it's heretical.

Songbook

Okay, SmallGroupies, I will make good on what I said last night.

Please suggest (either by commenting or by emailing or calling me) one or two songs that you'd like to see in our StElmoFlintstoneChickamaugaLookoutMtnEtCetera Small Group Song Book. I will find chords that work for Travis (no flats) and compile a guitarists' and a singers' collection for our use. Please feel free to request songs that we sing at Highlands, and songs we don't sing at Highlands. I won't guarantee they'll make it in, depending on the chordal structure, availability, and good taste, but I will try my hardest to be an impartial editor for this edition of the SEFCLMECSGSB.
